The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

I don't know why " the The Alchemist " became the most famous novel for Paulo Coelho . Seriously it's his worst novel - in my opinion - . it's not that bad , but for sure it doesn't deserve all this fame .

I liked "eleven minutes" - "by the river piedra I sat dawn and wept" - "Brida" more than "The Alchemist" ..

If I wanted to read about the desert , for sure I'm not gonna read for Coelho . the desert is the (playground) for someone like "Ibrahim Al Koni" for instance .. He lived the first 10 years of his life in the desert of Libya , he KNOWS what's he talking about ! he knows about desert and the hidden treasures of the desert , magic and magicians of the desert ..

he's the best in this field no doubt ..



don't believe me ? try reading "The Bleeding of the Stone" or something .

I'm gonna go start reading "Winner stands alone" , seems interesting , and for sure seems better than "The Alchemist" ..

The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde

I read both the english and the arabic translation of this novel , the details are a Little bit boring , slow .. but my god I'm mad about this idea .. original classic ! I loved it more than "faust" ..

I like oscar wilde's style in writing , but still it's not my favorite like the idea itself , perhaps if it was a little bit more spiritual like Paulo Coelho's style , that would be PERFECT !

anyway , I never found a novel that delivers a moral message , and yet interesting like this one ..

my four stars-rating is just for the idea - which btw he got it by luck , or so I read - :)

كم تثير فى نفسى , شوارعك , الحنين ..
واقفا ً وسط الميدان , تنتابنى حيرة شديدة فى اختيار الشارع الذى سيبتلع وحدتى ..
أنظر لتمثال "طلعت حرب", الكائن فى المنتصف , شاهدا ً على عصور مضت , و أخرى على وشك .
مقهى البورصة .. زجاجات سباتس الذبابة التى انقرضت من جميع محلات مصر ما عدا ذلك الكشك الكائن أمام سينما (أوديون) .. الفتاة التى تبصق نارا ً من فمها مارة بالمقهى عديم الاسم - أو هكذا أعتقد - خلف نفس السينما .. "أفتر ايت" و جلستها المميزة , حين يرتادها الفنانون , و أطباق الفول بالزيت من "سعد" الحرامى .. و "التكعيبة" ايضا ً و فنانيها المبتدئين المغمورين , حيث التناقض الساخر عندما تشاهد "هاملت" و الملك "لير" جالسان معك على ذات المقهى , يدخنان الشيشة , شباب مفعم بالأمل ينتظر من يكتشفه .. بعضهم اصطدم بالواقع المريع , و بعضهم لم يفعل بعد .. دور العرض الكثيرة المتنوعة و برغم ذلك بحث بلا جدوى عن فيلم "يسرى نصر الله" الجديد .. قبلات السياح الجريئة , و يد أحدهم فى الجيب الخلفى لشورت صديقته , و القبلات المصرية المختلسة , السريعة , المتحدية .. الكتب (المضروبة) التى تغرق الأرصفة باسعار زهيدة , و دور نشرها ( اللى تحت بير السلم ) .. (مدبولى) بأصالتها و عراقتها , و خشونة و قلة ذوق عمالها فى بعض الاحيان .. (الشروق) بحداثتها و نظامها و نظافتها و رسمياتها .. ثم (ميريت) و (عمر بوك ستورز) و البائع على الناصية المواجهة للجامعة الأمريكية .. الجامعة الأمريكية و البنات الجميلات .. و حالة الازدواجية التى يعانين منها و تتجلى بوضوح فى ملابس غير محتشمة مع الحجاب .. و أيدينا المتشابكة بعد حفلة السادسة فى شوارعك المظلمة , المببلة فى مواضع عدة .. و قط ضال , يبحث عن لقمة هنا , و أخرى هناك . لو مررت بعدها بأيام , لوجدته على نفس ناصيته , لا يتركها , الا ليعود . نوستالجيا .. حنيين .. حنييييييييين .

الشوارع بأعمدة الانارة السوداء شديدة الاناقة , بأرصفتها المميزة , المزدحمة دوما ً بالناس و الباعة الجائلين , و هروبا ً أبديا من ( البلدية ) .. أغرب أنواع ممكنة و غير ممكنة من المتسولين .. لا أنسى ذلك الغريب ذو البدلة المهترأة التى كانت أنيقة يوما ً ما , و هو يقف أمامنا فى المقهى , و يرفع أنفه للسماء و هو يتسول .. شمس مصر التى لم تعد "دافئة" كما تزال تؤكد الكتب المدرسية .. بل أصبحت أشد حرارة من جحيم سقر ..
بعد منتصف الليل .. ساعتها أتمنى أن تستمر اللحظة للأبد .. الشوارع الخالية , و المحال المغلقة , و المبانى الفخمة القديمة على الطراز الأوروبى , ليست كمتوازى المستطيلات المميز للمعمار الحديث .. السماء الزرقاء المنذرة بقدوم فجر يوم جديد .. فجر يوم جديد , فيلم قديم على مستوى فنى عال , لا يعرضه التلفزيون المصرى كالعادة .. رباه ! متى يتوقف تيار الأفكار .. ؟! متى أتوقف عن التخريف .. ؟
